Taj Mahal:
It took 22 years to construct the Taj Mahal. Materials for construction were brought from all over India and Asia. for instance, red stone was brought from neighbouring Fatehpur Sikri, Karauli-Hindaun, Tantpur and Phahrpur, while marble was brought from Makrana ( Rajasthan)
Semi-precious and rare stones were from Tibet, Kumaon, Jaisalmer, Cambay and Srilanka. In all, 28 types of precious and semi-precious were inlaid into white marble.
In 1983 Taj Mahal became the UNESCO World heritage site
