Hiccups!
Louis Mouse sneaked
up behind his sister Mary mouse to startle her and yelled, “Boo!” Ever since
that incident Mary has been having hiccups!
She tried all the tricks to get rid of her hiccups. She ate sugar, drank
lots of water and ever tried to hold breath for a long Time. But nothing
worked. Mary then went to her friend,
Ben the squirrel. “Ben... HIC... I have
HIC... hiccups!” “I noticed,” said Ben. “Why don’t you stand on your head? That
always worked for me!”
And so, poor Mary
stood on her head. But she kept falling every time she had hiccups! Theodore
the frog saw Mary and told her to hop about patting her tummy. “That will work,
Mary!” said Theodore. But nothing worked for Mary. Mary walked back home
worried. “What if... HIC.... never get cured?” Just then, Louis sneaked up
again and frightened Mary. She was very angry. “Louis! How many timed do I...”
Mary realised that Louis had just cured her of her hiccups. They happily jumped back home happily.
Angry King
Once upon a time a
king was crossing the sultry desert. His
pet eagle was sitting on the edge of his shoulders as usual. The hot sun made
him thirsty and he went to look for a stream.
Luckily he found a fountain not very far.
He knelt down and was about to
drink the water, when suddenly the eagle came down and pecked his hand. The
king was very surprised at this odd behavior of his pet. He bent down to drink
the water again. But the eagle pecked his hand again. The king got angry with
his pet eagle; the thirst king removed his sword and killed the eagle.
When he
bent down, something glistened in the water; it was a fierce poisonous snake.
The king realized that a single sip of water would have killed him.
He now
understood what the eagle has been trying to do. He sat beside the dead eagle
and moaned. “I have lost you because of my impatience. All you were trying to
do was save my life”.
Moral: Moral of the story is if you are patient in
one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow.
Unhappy lion cub
Loomba was a very handsome lion cub. His parents were
very proud of their son’s good looks. But Loomba was never happy with his
looks. One day while Loomba was playing
hide and seek with Jolly the parrot, he said, “wish I could be like you,
Jolly.” “Why don’t you go to the magic
tree, Nalpatara, and ask him for help,” suggested Jolly.
So Loomba went to get
himself changed. Nalpatara granted his wish and changed the Loomba lion kid
like a parrot. Finding himself all green
with a red beak and red belt around his neck, Loomba was very happy till he met Tinku the sparrow. Now he wanted to look
like the sparrow. He went to Nalpatara tree and asked that he wanted to look
like Tinku. So he now became tiny Tinku. He flew around happily and sat on Elly
the elephant. Loomba then wished to become like Elly. But he felt awkward
because of his huge size. “Oh Nalpatara, Please make me a lion cub once again,”
begged Loomba.
He was happy when his
friends came and told him that he looked best as the way he always was a
handsome lion cub.
Moral: Moral of the story is being happy the way you
are and everyone will like you.
