Who is packing your parachute

Who is packing your parachute?

Air Commodore Vishal was a Jet Pilot. In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He won acclaims and appreciations from many.

After five years one day he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant. A man from another table came to him and said "You're Captain Vishal ! You flew jet fighters. You were shot down!"

"How in the world did you know that?" asked Vishal.

"I packed your parachute," the man smiled and replied.
Vishal gasped in surprise and gratitude and thought if parachute hadn't worked, I wouldn’t be here today.

Vishal couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. He wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because, he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker"

So friends, who is packing your parachute?
Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day.

We need many kinds of parachutes when our plane is shot down – we need the physical parachute, the mental parachute, the emotional parachute, and the spiritual parachute.
We call on all these supports before reaching safety.

Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important.

We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason.

As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognize the people who pack your parachute.

I just want to thank everyone who packed my parachute this year one way or the other- through your words, deeds, prayers etc!! Don't want to take any of you for granted.

Struggle = Strength

Do Read... its beautiful !

The best message I have read
in a while

A man, an avid Gardener saw a small Butterfly laying few eggs in one of the pots in his garden.

Since that day he looked at the egg with ever growing curiosity and eagerness.

The egg started to move and shake a little.

He was excited to see a new life coming up right in front of his eyes.

He spent hours watching the egg now.

The egg started to expand and develop cracks.

A tiny head and antennae started to come out ever so slowly.

The man's excitement knew no bounds.

He got his magnifying glasses and sat to watch the life and body of a pupa coming out.

He saw the struggle of the tender pupa and couldn't resist his urge to "HELP".

He went and got a tender forceps to help the egg break, a nip here, a nip there to help the struggling life and the pupa was out.

The man was ecstatic!

He waited now each day for the pupa to grow and fly like a beautiful butterfly, but alas that never happened.

The larvae pupa had a oversized head and kept crawling along in the pot for the full 4 weeks and died!

Depressed the man went to his botanist friend and asked the reason.

His friend told him the struggle to break out of the egg helps the larvae to send blood to its wings and the head push helps the head to remain small so that the tender wings can support it thru its 4 week life cycle.

In his eagerness to help, the man destroyed a beautiful life!

Struggles help all of us, that's why a bit of effort goes a long way to develop our strength to face life's difficulties!

As parents, we sometimes go too far trying to help and protect our kids from life's harsh realities and disappointments.

We don't want our kids to struggle like we did.

Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Dan Kindlon says that over-protected children are more likely to struggle in relationships and
with challenges.

We're sending our kids the message that they're not capable of helping themselves.

To quote clinical psychologist,
Dr. Wendy 's Moral:

"It  is  Our Job  to  prepare  Our  Children  for  the  Road & Not  prepare  the  Road for  Our Children"

Effort is important in life

Brilliant story

An engine in a factory failed.

The owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing engines since he was young.

He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work.

He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.

After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.

He gently tapped something.

Instantly, the engine lurched into life.

He carefully put his hammer away.

The engine was fixed!
A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for Rs.10,000.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer.. ....... . Rs. 2/-

Knowing where to tap..........         Rs 9,998/

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life, makes all the difference.

"Life doesn't change in ONE MINUTE, but taking decision after thinking for ONE MINUTE can change life."

About life - Sundar Pichai

Cockroach TheoryA beautiful speech by Sundar Pichai - an IIT-MIT Alumnus and Global HeadGoogle Chrome:The cockroach theory for self developmentAt a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and sat on a lady. She started screaming out of fear. With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group. Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter. The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt. When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behavior? If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed? He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos. It is not the cockroach, but the inability of those people to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach, that disturbed the ladies.I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife thatdisturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by theirshouting that disturbs me.It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.Lessons learnt from the story:I understood, I should not react in life.I should always respond. The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.A beautiful way to understand............LIFE.Person who is HAPPY is not because Everything is RIGHT in his Life..He is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his Life is Right..!!

Be a master of our mouth

Once upon a time an old man spread rumors that his neighbor was a thief.
As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later the young man was
proven innocent. After been released he sued the old man for wrongly
accusing him.

In court the old man told the Judge: 'They were just comments, didn't
harm anyone..'

The judge, before passing sentence on the case, told the old man: 'Write
all the things you said about him on a piece of paper. Cut them up and
on the way home, throw the pieces of paper out. Tomorrow, come back to
hear the sentence.'

The next day, the judge told the old man: 'Before receiving the
sentence, you will have to go out and gather all the pieces of paper
that you threw out yesterday.'

The old man said: 'I can't do that! The wind spread them and I won't
know where to find them.'

The judge then replied: 'The same way, simple comments may destroy the
honor of a man to such an extent that one is not able to fix it.

"If you can't speak well of someone, rather don't say anything"

'Let's all be masters of our mouths, so that we won't be slaves of our
words.'

Put shark in your tank

Very relevant today ......Must read.

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish

But the water close to Japan has not held many  fish for decades.

So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever.

The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish

If the return trip took more time, the fish  were not fresh.

To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats.

They would catch the fish  and freeze them at sea.

Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.

However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish and they did not like the taste of frozen fish

The frozen fish brought a lower price.

So, fishing companies installed fish tanks.

They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin.

After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste.

The fishing industry faced an impending crisis!

But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan.

How did they manage...?

To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks but with a small shark

The fish are challenged and hence are constantly on the move.

The challenge they face keeps them alive and fresh!

Have you realized that some of us are also living in a pond but most of the time tired and dull....?

Basically in our lives, sharks are new challenges to keep us active.

If you are steadily conquering
challenges, you are happy.

Your challenges keep you energized.

Don’t create Success and revel in it in a state of inertia.

You have the resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.

Put a shark in your tank this month and see how far you can really go....

Letter to MOM

Cute Letter from a newly married girl to her mother

Dear mom,
Like every normal girl, I was excited about marriage right from my childhood days.

I never thought beyond the time that I would spend happily with my prince charming.

But today when I am married, I realize that marriage is not all roses.

It’s not just about being with your beloved and having a gala time.

There is so much more to it. It comes with its own share of responsibilities, duties, sacrifices and compromises

I can’t wake up anytime I want to.

I am expected to be up and ready before everyone else in the family.

I can’t laze around in my pyjamas throughout the day.

I am expected to be presentable every time.

I can’t just go out anytime I want to.

I am expected to be sensitive to the needs of the family.

I just can’t hit the bed anytime I want to.

I am expected to be active and around the family.

I can’t expect to be treated like a princess but am supposed to take care of everyone else in the family.

And then I think to myself, ‘why did I get married at all?’ I was happier with you, mom.

Sometimes I think of coming back to you and getting pampered again.

I want to come home to my favourite food cooked by you every evening after a nice outing with friends.

I want to sleep on your laps like I have no worry in this world.

But then I suddenly realize, had you not got married and made such sacrifices in your life, I wouldn’t have had so many wonderful memories to hang on to.

And suddenly, the purpose of all this becomes clear- to return the same comfort, peace and happiness to my new family that I got from you.

And I am sure that as time would pass, I would start loving this life equally as you do.

Thank you mom for all the sacrifices and compromises you made.

They give me the strength to do the same. Love you.

Onions

ONIONS!

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu...

Many of the farmers and their families had contracted it and many died.

The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser. She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.

Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:

Thanks for the reminder. I don't know about the farmer's story...but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia, and, needless to say, I was very ill... I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.
Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.

This is the other note. Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don't know what to blame. Maybe it's the onions that are to blame. Onions absorb bacteria is the reason they are so good at preventing us from getting colds and flu and is the very reason we shouldn't eat an onion that has been sitting for a time after it has been cut open.

LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS
I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.

Ed, who was our tour guide, is a food chemistry whiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise you. Ed said that all commercially-made mayo is completely safe.

"It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary." He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the summer picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table, and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

Ed says that, when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim' last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the ONIONS, and if not the onions, it's the POTATOES.

He explained onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion.. He says it's not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator.

It's already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!). Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions.
Please remember it is dangerous to cut an onion and try to use it to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

Please pass this on to all you love and care about

Grandma in court

GRANDMA  IN  COURT.. Brilliantly Hilarious:

Lawyers should never ask grandmas a question if they aren’t prepared for the answer!

In a trial, a small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, an elderly grandmother to the stand.

He approached her and asked; "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you're a  big disappointment to me..
You lie, cheat on your wife, manipulate  people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a  big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will  amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know  you.."

The lawyer was stunned!  Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked,  - "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney (the opponent's lawyer)?"

She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster. He's lazy, bigoted, and has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone  and his law practice is one of the worst in the state. Not to  mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of  them was your wife. ..Yes I know him."

The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both lawyers to approach the bench and in a quiet  voice said:

"If either of you rascals asks her if she knows me,  I'll send you to jail for contempt of court !

In this world of E-mails, E-ticket, E-paper, E-recharge, E-transfer and the latest E-Governance...

Never Forget "E-shwar ( God )"

who makes e-verything e-asy for e-veryone e-veryday.

"E" is the most Eminent letter of the English alphabet.

Men or Women don't exist without "E".

House or Home can't be made without "E".

Bread or Butter can't be found without "E".

"E" is the beginning of "existence" and the end of "trouble."

It's not at all in 'war'
but twice in 'peace'.

It's once in 'hell' but twice in 'heaven'.

"E" represented in 'Emotions'
Hence,  all emotional relations like Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, wife & friends have 'e' in them.

The secret to a happy married life

THE SECRET TO A HAPPY MARRIED LIFE-

Once I asked my friend, "What is the secret behind your Happy Married Life?"

He said "You should share responsibilities with due love and respect each other. Then absolutely there will be no problems."

I asked "Can you explain?"

He said "In my house, I take decisions on bigger issues where as my Wife decides on smaller issues. We do not interfere in each other's decisions."

Still not convinced, i asked him "Give me some examples".

He said "Smaller issues like, which car we should buy, how much amount to save, when to visit the super market, when & where to go on vacation, which sofa, air conditioner, refrigerator to buy. Monthly expenses, whether to keep a maid or not etc. Are all decided by my wife. I just agree to it "

I asked "Then, what is your role?"

He said "My decisions are only for very big issues. Like whether America should attack Iran, whether Britain should lift sanctions over Zimbabwe, whether Dhoni should retire from Cricket , Whom should Salman Khan Marry. etc etc. and do you know, my wife; NEVER, objects to any of these decisions"...

Men will never learn

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident.

It's a bad collision , caused by the woman's reckless driving.

Both of their cars
are demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says;

"So, you're a handsome man. That's interesting. I'm a woman.

Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt.

This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

The man replied," I agree with you completely. This must be a sign from God!

The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle.

My car is completely damaged, but this bottle of wine didn't break.

Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune together."
Then she hands the bottle to the man seductively.

The man nods his head in agreement, opens it, drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman.

The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

She replies, "Nah. I think I'll just wait for the police to come and collect their evidence."

ADAM  ATE  THE  APPLE AGAIN ! !

Men will NEVER learn !

Why woman lie

Why Women Lie:

One day, when a tailor was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, 'My dear child, why are you crying?'

The woman replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family.

The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with sapphires.

'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked. She replied, 'No.'

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a golden thimble studded with rubies.
'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked. Again, she replied, 'No.'

The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble.
'Is this your thimble ?' the Lord asked. She replied, 'Yes'

The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

Some years later, the same woman was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water.

When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, 'Why are you crying?' 'Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!'

The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney. 'Is this your husband?' the Lord asked.

'Yes,' cried the woman.  The Lord was furious. 'You lied! That is an untruth!'

The woman replied, 'Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding.

You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt.
Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband.

Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S why I said 'yes' to George Clooney.
And so the Lord let her keep him.

The moral of this story is:
Whenever a woman lies, it's for a good and honorable reason, and in the best interest of others.

That's our story, and we're sticking to it.

Signed,

All Women

Son: Thank You
He then opened his own money box
And then he began to count the money
He said, Now I have Rs 500 deposit
Can I buy an hour of yours ?
Tomorrow will you please come home early by an hour ,
I want to have dinner with you.
Being emotional, father hugged his son.

We work hard to get the money,
But don't give time to one who loves us a lot.
If you die tomorrow, the company for which you were working so hard will easily replace you by someone else.
But
Family and friends who love you much
will miss you forever.
We give much more importance to our work than our loved once.
Give time to your family

Why woman are so special

WHY WOMEN ARE SO SPECIAL . . .

Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.

She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.

She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom.

She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the  teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book out  from  hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a  friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note  for the  grocery store. She put both near her bag.

Mum then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed."

"I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.

She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack.

She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list.

She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed.".

And he did...without another thought.

Kids - story telling

Awesomee ......A story in one of the schools in Chennai where admission is considered impossible!!!

To get UKG admission

The child could not understand why they brought her there..

When we all were standing, the school principal started to converse with the child....yes...in English only! This is one of the most memorable interview I have ever witnessed in my life..
Here goes..

"What's your name?"

"Sarithra"

"Good. Tell me something you know"

"I know many things. Tell me what you want...!"

Alas, there is no better point for not getting the admission!

Sarithra's mother was trying to make up the situation but the principal stopped her..

Turning to child, she said.. "Tell any rhyme or story which you know.."

Again,"Which one you want.. Rhyme or Story!?"

"Ok. Plz tell me a story.."

"Do uou want to hear what I studied or what I wrote..!?"

Taken to surprise, she asked "Oh! you write stories...???"

"Why should I not write..?"

Now even I was taken aback But she was impressed with the answer. She ( including us) would have not heard such a story in our life...

Ok, tell me story which you have written-?

Sarithra said "Ravanan kidnapped Sita & took her to Srilanka"

The opening scene failed to impress but still she encouraged the child to continue..

"Rama asked Hanumans help to rescue Sita. Hanuman too agreed to help Rama ..."

"Then?"

"Now, Hanuman called his friend Spider man." No one expected this twist in the story!!

"Why?"

"Because there are lot of mountains between India and Srilanka.. but if we have Spiderman we can go easily with his rope..."

"But Hanuman can fly isn't it.. ?"

"Yes. But he is having Sanjeevi Mountain on one hand so he cannot fly very fast.!"

All is quiet, after a while Sarithra asked "Should I continue or not?.".

"Ok plz continue!"

"Hanuman and Spiderman flew to Srilanka and rescued Sita. Sita said Thanks to both!"

"Why"

"When you are helped you should say Thanks!"

So Sita requested Hanuman to call Hulk..."

All were surprised. She realized our curiosity and said " Now Sita is there, so to take her safely back to Rama she called Hulk"

"What??? "Hanuman can carry Sita right?"

"Yes. But he has Sanjeevi Mountain in one hand and has to hold spider man on the other"

No one could control thier smiles. " So when they all started to India they met my friend Akshay! "

"How come Akshay there now?"

"Because its my story and I can bring any one there!"

The principal didn't get angry but waited for the next twist

Then all started to India and landed at Chennai Velechery bus stop!

Now I asked,"Why they have landed In Velechery bus stop?

"Because they forgot the way..& Hulk got an idea and called Dora!"

I came to know about Dora only there...!

"Dora came and she took Sita to Velechery Venus Colony...that's all!"

She finished the story with a smile..

The principal asks "Why venus Colony...?"

"Because sita lives there & i am Sita!!!"

The principal was impressed and embraced the child. She has been admitted in UKG & was gifted with a Dora doll...

Kids can really amaze... but we clip their wings (creativity) expecting them to do things as we see it right & not from their viewpoint.

Let's give every child freedom to do their own thing & watch their dreams come true...

Winter baby care

Those of you who are new parents will agree wholeheartedly that caring for babies is a daunting task in any season. Baby care is a specialized subject which requires 100% commitment from parents. If you have a support system consisting of doting grandparents, adoring aunts, fawning friends, dependable paediatricians and even the neighbour ladies who will drop in to care for the baby, you are one of those lucky people who will breeze through the initial months of baby care.

What next moments

All parents face those moments of uncertainty when the baby just won't stop crying. You have tried all known remedies. After spending yet another sleepless night nursing your baby, you make a resolve that you are going to be more careful in the future. Truth is no matter how hard the parents try, babies will fall sick. But one can take certain precautions during all seasons of the year to see that the instances of illness are infrequent and discomfort to the baby is minimal.

Common Winter Illnesses

Winter does bring some respite from the humid and sultry months, but it also brings its own set of challenges. As the baby's immune system is still developing, they tend to be vulnerable to common cold and other winter illnesses like flu, viral fever, meningitis, pneumonia and bronchiolitis. Ear infections are very common in winter, and your baby can cry for hours without anyone being the wiser about what is causing your infant the discomfort.

Baby Care in Winter Months

Take these simple measures during winter months:

Wash your baby's hands frequently to protect them against cold and flu.

Do not allow sick people to get close to your baby.

Avoid crowded places.

Ensure your baby's vaccinations are up-to-date.

Keep your baby hydrated at all times to protect them against infections.

Stay away from smoke and sprays.

Maintain good overall hygiene standards at home.

Keep your baby warm at all times. Buy winter clothes including mittens, socks and leggings made of materials like wool or flannel.

Most important of all, the most effective to boost your baby's immune system is to breastfeed them.

Disclaimer

The aim of the article is to be informative in a general sort of way. Do consult your doctor for qualified medical instructions about how to care for your baby. Do get your child examined in all cases of illness or discomfort to the child, without exceptions.

Be humble, there is always someone bigger

Worth reading...

Dilip Kumar himself narrated this incident.
At his peak, the star was travelling by plane. The passenger sitting next was elderly. Dressed in a very simple bush shirt and pant, his apparel projected a middle class. He appeared well educated.
Passengers on the aircraft snatched glances of the renowned Dilip Kumar. Yet, the gentleman appeared unconcerned. He read his newspaper, then looked out of the window.
When tea came, he sipped it without any notice of Dilip Kumar who sat with him.
It made Dilip Kumar uneasy.
Trying to strike a conversation, he smiled.
The courteous man smiled back and said hello.
Dilip somehow brought the subject to films and asked,
"Do you watch films?"
The man replied,
"Oh, very few. I did see one many years ago"
Dilip casually mentioned that he himself worked in films.
Man; "Oh, that's nice. What do you do?"
Dilip Kumar; "I am a film actor"
Man; "Oh, wonderful?"
There was no further response.

When the flight landed and both stood up, Dilip Kumar held out his hand,
"It was good to travel with you. By the way, my name is Dilip Kumar"
The man shook hand and smiled,
"Thank you. I am J.R.D. Tata"

For all who think that he is big, there is always someone bigger....
Be humble...
It costs nothing.

There are no unanswered prayers

Beautiful message from Lord Krishna (Bhagawat Geetha)..

Me- I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic.

KRISHNA : Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free.

Me :why has life become complicated now?

KRISHNA : Stop analyzing life.. It makes it complicated. Just live it.

Me : Why are we then constantly unhappy?

KRISHNA : Worrying has become your
habit. That’s why you are not happy.

Me: why do good people always suffer?

KRISHNA : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer.
With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter.

Me : You mean to say such experience is useful?

KRISHNA : Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me : Because of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading…

KRISHNA : If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides the way.

Me :  does failure hurt
more than moving in the right direction?

KRISHNA : Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you.

Me : In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

KRISHNA : Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me : What surprises you about people?

KRISHNA : When they suffer they ask, “why me?” When they prosper, they never ask “Why me?”

Me : How can I get the best out of life?

KRISHNA : Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Me : One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

KRISHNA : There are no unanswered prayers.  Keep the faith and drop the fear.  Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

My wife, my wealth

My Wife, My Wealth"

by the Oshwal Community, that usually has the surname Shah, has some of the wealthiest people in Kenya.

Many members own top of the range supermarkets, shopping malls, and factories. And the experience of interacting with the top leadership of the community was a major eye opener for me.

When I asked one of the leaders why the community appears to prosper- far more than others:- he gave me a very interesting answer:

"My wife, my wealth" Principle.

He explained to me that they learnt that treating their women well has some very Tangible Benefits. According to them,  women are like nature- they multiply what you give them, and give it back to you. They are taught- right early in life to treat their women right, irrespective

"If you give a woman a small seed, after nine months, she will give you a bouncing baby" he started. in a poetic way he continued...

If you give a woman love, she will adore you,

If you give a woman respect and honor, she will worship you,

If you give a woman time, she will give you a Life Time,

If you give a woman money, she will give you an investment.

On the contrary,

If you you give a woman slaps, life will slap you back.

If you oppress your woman, society will oppress you.

He then went ahead to give several examples of societies and communities that mistreat their women. He particularly pointed out at a world famous religion that oppresses its women- and showed me how they are at war with basically every one, and everywhere across the globe.

He then told me to open my eyes, and observe, with complete honesty anyone that treats his wife like trash, and follow how they end up. Or observe anyone that treats his wife like a queen and see how they end up.

He further reiterated, You all men will have to try it, after having lived on your ways for decades, just try this Principle for couple of years, you will be amazed to see your prosperity too.

Believe in "MY WIFE, MY WEALTH" Principle.

Why planning is important

Why Planning is important?

One Night 4 college students were playing till late night and could not study for the test which was scheduled for the next day.

In the morning they thought of a plan. They made themselves look as dirty with grease and dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tyre of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test.

So the Dean said they could have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they would be ready by that time.

On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days.

The Test consisted of 2 questions with a total of 100 Marks.

Go not to temple by Rabindranath Tagore

So beautiful! It's so true. Go not to the temple
by Rabindranath Tagore:

Go not to the temple to put flowers upon the feet of God,
First fill your own house with the Fragrance of love and kindness.

Go not to the temple to light candles before the altar of God,
First remove the darkness of sin , pride and ego,
from your heart...

Go not to the temple to bow down your head in prayer,
First learn to bow in humility before your fellowmen.
And apologise to those you have wronged.

Go not to the temple to pray on bended knees,
First bend down to lift someone who is down-trodden.
And strengthen the young ones.
Not crush them.

Go not to the temple to ask for forgiveness for your sins,
First forgive from your heart those who have hurt  you!

Very Very Beautiful.

Unknown facts about fever

What is fever

A fever is caused by a number of medical conditions ranging from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections. Fever is one of the medical signs, an objective indication of some medical fact or characteristic that may be detected by a physician. Fevers do not normally go beyond 410 C to 420 C (or 105.60 F to 107.60F).

A trying time

A condition like the fever in children is a real test of parents' patience and parenting skills as younger the children the scarier it is for the parents. Fever makes children cranky and  restless. Sleep eludes them and high fever causes children to whimper through the night, giving the parents some anxious moments. Parents sometimes blame themselves for not being careful enough.

How to deal with fever

Understand that falling sick is part of growing up and no matter how careful parents are, kids will fall sick at some stage. But it is important for parents not to panic. First check the temperature using a standard digital thermometer or a temporal artery scanner. Use a rectal thermometer for infants and young children.

When to worry

Consult your doctor immediately in the following cases:

The normal body temperature of humans is typically between 37.50 C to 38.30 C (99.50 F to 100.90 F). Call a doctor if it is higher than 1040 F (> 400 C).
A fever may be a child's response to something more serious.
The child is younger than 3 months of age.
The fever lasts more than five days. The underlying causes may need to be investigated further.
The fever unresponsive to fever reducers.
The child was recently immunized and has a temperature above 102º F or a fever for more than 48 hours.
The child is difficult to arouse, or is not taking in enough liquids.
As parents, your instincts tell you something is not quite right.

When to take it easy

Do not worry when your child continues to be playful and is eating and drinking normally in spite of having a fever.
Temperatures of up to 102.50 F if your child is 3 months to 3 years of age, or up to 1030 F if your child is older. These temperatures can be common, but not necessarily worrisome.
If the child was recently immunized, the fever can be normal if they last less than 48 hours.
