Kitten's House

One Morning, Leena decided to go for a ride on her bicycle. She quickly ran upstairs and wore her shorts. “Mother, I am going out on the bicycle,” she shouted as she ran out. “Be careful dear! Don’t fall off the bike like you did the other day.” Her mother said in a worried tone. When Leena opened the door of the shed, to her surprise, she saw that two mynas had built a nest in the bicycle’s basket. Her who was following her saw the nest and said, “Leena, you should not go out today. The birds will get disturbed.” Leena was a little disappointed.

It is so strange that the birds have chosen my bicycle for a nest, she thought and decided to go for a walk. After walking for a while, she reached a cottage which was near Uncle John’s house. She stood wondering whether should go and meet Aunt Susie and her cousins. Just as she was about to turn to their house, Leena was surprised to see that two swallows had built a nest in the front porch of the cottage. “That mean everyone in the will have to use the back door for a few days,” thought Leena. A little later she reached Farmer Matt’s farm and saw that a duck had laid eggs on the farmer’s tractor seat! What a sight! It seems today is a special day. I hope farmer Matt doesn’t miss those eggs on his seat. I better go and tell his wife, “said Leena, a little worried about the duck’s egg.

She walked a little further and met her friend, Julia who told her that she found a Ruben’s nest in a plant pot. Then the Peter’s wife showed her the new kittens that had made their home in a barrel. She said to Leena, “your grandfather has asked you to choose two kittens from here and take them home,” So Leena came home happily with the kittens that were tucked up in the basket.
When she reached home, her mother asked her, “Leena, where are you going to keep those little kittens?”

As soon as Leena put the basket on the floor, the kittens jumped out and ran into her doll’s house. Leena’s grandfather also came out of his room hearing the commotion. “My my, where are those kittens you brought?”

Everyone was surprised to see the kittens in the doll’s house, already asleep. “What a strange house for two kittens! I am glad I did not go on the bicycle today,” laughed Leena. Then she told her mother all the queer houses she has seen that day.
